Ingredients

Preparation

Ingredients

Stir Fried Soykei tofu

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp of cooking oil (avocado)
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 diced red bell pepper
  • ½ cup pineapple chunks (optional)
  • 1 block of extra firm Soykei tofu

Sauce

  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp soya sauce
  • ¼ cup maple syrup or sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1-2 tsp sriracha sauce (optional)

Serve with

  • Rice (or other Asian noodles of your choice)
  • Steamed veggies
  • Chopped green onions

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix the ingredients for the sauce. Set aside.
  2. Prepare your rice according to the indication on the packaging and set aside when ready.
Slice the tofu blocks in two, press the tofu in a clean cloth to remove excess water. Break the tofu into bite size pieces with your hands.
  3. Add the tofu to a big bowl. Add in the corn starch and the spices. Mix well.
  4. While your rice is cooking, on medium heat, add cooking oil into a deep pan. Add in the tofu and cook for about 10 minutes until the tofu is golden and crunchy.
  5. Add in the garlic and red bell pepper and cook for another 10 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
  6. Once the vegetables are tender, stir your sauce to make sure everything is well mixed. Pour the sauce on the tofu. Add the pineapple if desired. Stir gently until the sauce has thickened.
  7. Serve on a bed of rice with some steamed veggies, garnish with minced green onions.
